Blue IQ recognises its responsibility as a corporate citizen toward its stakeholders and the community/environment within which it operates. Corporate Social Investment (CSI), as a major cornerstone for good corporate citizenship, forms an integral part of BEE transformation, corporate accountability and good governance and is intrinsically linked to Blue IQ Investment Holdings’ (BIQIH) stated objectives. - CSI strategic criteria
- Funding projects that have a logical fit with the mission and vision of BIQIH
- Engaging the full array of organisational resources, in an appropriate manner
- Considering CSI activities at all levels of the organisation
- A function that is driven by the company’s corporate mission
- Regularly evaluated and updated where required.
- For BIQIH, CSI encompass projects that are external to the business or outward
looking, projects undertaken for the purpose of uplifting communities in general and those which have a strong developmental approach. It also includes projects with a focus on social, developmental or community aspects where the investment is not primarily driven as a marketing initiative. CSI AREAS AND POLICY Following the mandate of the Province, BIQIH renders support in four key areas: - Job creation & local economic development
- Poverty alleviation
- Innovation & education
- Sport & recreation
- Our policy is to focus our funding and involvement in those communities that are
directly involved with the company’s objectives and operations. In addition, we approach all CSI projects in a consultative manner to promote self-sufficiency in the communities within which we operate. Finally, we are committed to managing the impact of the company’s relations with the community and the environment according to ethical principles.

| Smart Young Mindz
<!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->Smart Young Mindz is a Corporate Social Investment Programme of Blue IQ and its partner, the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) and The Sowetan, together with the Sowetan's Aggrey Klaaste Foundation. It focuses on developing the youth of today, to become tomorrow’s scientists, inventors engineers, entrepreneurs and future leaders in professions that require maths & science as a basis. A series of programmes and projects has been lined up by the GDE to actually increase the number of engineers in the country and Smart Young Mindz is one such project.
